💛 SEN Support

We are dedicated to cultivating the culture of integration by means of a 'whole school approach' in support of students with SEN. Through the allocation of resources, we provide appropriate and multifarious assistance and services in order to enhance their learning efficiency and enable them to integrate into school life. The Student Support Team consists of SEN Coordinator, SEN Support Teacher, Discipline Mistress, Counseling Mistress, Chinese, English and Mathematics teachers, discipline teacher, teacher of the Extracurricular Activity Team, teacher of the Social Services Group, counselor, social workers and educational psychologist. school_organisation 1. Our school is led by the Incorporated Management Committee (IMC).<br>2. School development plans are formulated under the shared mission of all teachers, followed by the adoption of the PTA and approval of the IMC.<br>3. School Core Advisory Group and School-based Management Committee help the principal to implement the school policies. The School-based Management Consultation Committee consists of teachers of different seniority and functional groups to participate in school administration.<br>4. The Alumni Association, Parent-Teacher Association and Student Association work closely together with the school for our future development.
imc_smc_mc The IMC was established on 31st August, 2009.
school_green_policy In order to encourage students to save energy and make good use of natural resources, "Energy Saving Regulations" have been posted in classrooms and checks are carried out throughout the year. We also respond to activities such as "Light-off for an hour", "No Air-con Night" and organize "No Air-con Day". To reduce waste, students are encouraged to bring their own eating utensils to the school picnic or other activities. Recycling boxes are set up in the corridor of each floor on the school premises to facilitate the recycling of waste products.
language_policy We have adopted English as the medium of instruction (EMI) in some non-language subjects in some classes in junior forms. Both Mathematics and Science (S.1 and S.2) are taught in English. S.3 Citizenship, Economics and Society and Science subjects are taught in English or have Extended Learning Activities in English.<br>A series of school-based teaching and learning packages has been integrated into the curriculum to facilitate English learning. English learning is a priority of school development. We have held a variety of English learning activities, such as English Activity Days, NET Chats, Lunchtime English Performances, short presentations in English and some English cross-curricula activities with science, music, visual arts and physical education. These activities enrich the English learning environment for the students and maximize their exposure to the language.

To promote the development of the key tasks and diversified learning experiences of students, elements such as civic and moral education and social services are diffused into our curriculum. major_renewed_emphases_in_the_school_curriculum We carry out different reading schemes, make use of information technology and implement project learning in order to promote students’ motivation and to develop their generic skills. Our Religious Education and Affairs Team, Civic, Moral & Environmental Education Team, Counseling Team and Discipline Team will run different courses and programmes in order to cultivate students’ virtues and raise their civic awareness. On a whole-school approach, each subject incorporates national security education, and moral, civic, and national education into the curriculum, intending to cultivate students’ awareness of national security and a sense of belonging to our country.
life_planning_education In promoting life planning, our Careers Guidance Team organizes different activities with other school teams for different levels of students. Activities are designed based on students' needs in their development with focused life planning. We also make use of resources outside to carry out activities such as seminars, visits to universities inside and outside Hong Kong. Our alumni also share their working experience with students in the mentorship programme. We help parents in guiding students to make their own decision in life planning.
whole_school_approach_cater_for_learner_diversity 1. In teaching, all subject teachers adapt their teaching methodology, teaching materials and assessment modes to cater for learner diversity to promote students' interest in learning;<br>2. We organize activities and courses for students with different abilities: (1) Effective learning programme for high achievers in S.2 and S.3 (2) Nominate and subsidize elite students to join programmes organized by the Science Academy for Young Talent of the Faculty of Science at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. (3) Nominate and subsidize elite students to join the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Dual Program (DP). (4) Nominate gifted students to join the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education and encourage them to apply for related courses. (5) Organize courses for high achievers from S.4 to S.6 with the Diversity Learning Grant (DLG). Courses include Chinese writing and appreciation class, Chinese Orchestra Training, Physics elite class etc. (6) Remedial classes for junior forms; tutorial classes on specific subjects for senior forms;<br>3. Various extra-curricular activities are provided to arouse students' interest and explore their potentials, and complement their overall performances with "Student Learning Profile".
adaptation_for_learning_and_assessment We implement and develop the strategy of "assessment for learning", with diversified modes of assessment, such as projects, observations, reports, etc. in order to promote life-wide learning.
home_school_co_operation We aim at promoting home-school co-operation. Through a series of activities organized by our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), we enhance the capacity of the parents, so that students will have better family support. We have parent education talks for parents and sharing sessions for parents of Form One students to improve their parenting skills. In addition, we hold different classes and social functions, such as yoga workshops, parent-child outings and photo-taking activities. Moreover, to promote parents' well-being, the PTA organizes meditation classes for them to reduce their stress and boost their concentration. Through participating in these activities, teachers, parents and students can enjoy healthy leisure time. Besides, the gatherings allow the participants to share their anecdotes and lives in a relaxed environment.
