Innovation and technology inspire diversified growth and confidently meet future challenges
C.C.C. Kei Tsun Primary SchoolUnder the leadership of Principal Zheng Junjie, we actively promote the development of teaching innovation. Principal Zheng has been deeply engaged in education for many years and has rich educational experience and forward-looking teaching vision. He has won the fifth Outstanding Educational Administrator Award of the Hong Kong Institute of Educational Administrators and has profound teaching and research experience. Relying on solid professional experience, Principal Zheng leads the teaching team to focus on the three major teaching areas of aerospace, AI, and STEAM to build a clear-level innovation and technology curriculum structure. At the same time, the school continues to develop values education, national education, racial integration, arts, sports, and language diversity to guide students' all-round growth.
KT Little Astronaut Award Program Cultivates Positive Qualities of "Wisdom, Benevolence, and Courage"
The school launched the KT Little Astronaut Award Program, which takes aerospace as the core theme and focuses on the three dimensions of "wisdom, benevolence, and courage" to set all-round growth goals for students. "Wisdom" corresponds to the academic tasks of each subject and integrates STEAM and AI digital learning requirements; "Benevolence" focuses on students' spiritual cultivation, moral cultivation, and the establishment of positive values; "Courage" covers services inside and outside the school, participation in activities, and practical applications.
Principal Zheng explained: "The plan has added twelve core values and implemented a semester settlement mechanism. Students can earn corresponding rewards by completing various goals and tasks independently. The school has designed graded badges: Primary one can get Mercury and Venus badges, and second graders can get Earth and Mars badges. Students accumulate them year by year. By the time they graduate from Primary 6, they can collect the solar system badges. Collecting the entire set of universe badges is like gradually conquering the universe and increasing the sense of learning achievement. In addition, outstanding students at each level will be selected and awarded outstanding junior astronaut certificates to commend students with outstanding overall performance."
At the same time, the school continues to develop aerospace exchanges between the two places and encourages students to participate in the Jiangsu-Hong Kong Little Astronaut Selection Competition. Principal Zheng and scholars jointly compiled "Notes on the Starry Sky" and launched exclusive textbooks for Hong Kong and Suzhou editions for students in the two places to learn aerospace knowledge on their own. The competition brought together nearly 5,000 students from Jiangsu and Hong Kong to participate, including self-study of knowledge, physical simulation, and interviews with professors and experts from the University of Hong Kong. Many students stood out and received exclusive honorary qualifications. The school also arranged for students to visit the Wenchang Rocket Launch Base, where they were personally taught by retired astronauts and mainland aerospace experts. During the visit, students watched rocket launches, providing high-quality practical aerospace experience.
Construct an AI curriculum system and popularize digital education throughout the school
In order to promote the development of digital education, Principal Zheng shared: "Since last year, AI teaching content has been fully added to the curriculum, covering all grades. The first and second graders have a preliminary understanding of the basic concepts and history of artificial intelligence; the third graders focus on the core operational processes of AI such as big data; the fourth graders systematically learn generative AI knowledge, and the fifth and sixth graders carry out advanced AI application learning and master AI skills proficiently."
The school's "Artificial Intelligence and Aerospace Education Resource Center" held an opening ceremony earlier, and Jiquan has become a joint robot demonstration base for the well-known mainland company "Yunshen Technology". The school introduces the most advanced smart technology to the campus, and opens it to teachers and students of primary and secondary schools and kindergartens for visits and training, and shares high-quality innovation and technology resources. In addition, the school will hold the "First Hong Kong Primary School Robot Dog Competition" later, aiming to promote academic exchanges and enhance students' practical ability in innovation and technology.
In addition, Principal Zheng used his experience working with the Disney Youth Team to actively optimize the difficulty and content of the school's STEAM courses to suit students' learning progress and their cognitive scope. For example, the "STEAM
Multi-value education nourishes the souls of students
The school attaches great importance to students' moral and spiritual growth, and actively promotes national education and life education. The school has established a teaching framework of "Five Nations Theory", which takes national history, Chinese studies, national system, national security and national conditions as the core, and subtly cultivates students' patriotism and love for Hong Kong. In addition, in response to students' growing pain points of insufficient resistance to stress, the school has introduced a "failure education" course to guide students to redefine failure, understand that failure is an opportunity for growth and progress, cultivate perseverance, and improve stress resistance and emotional regulation abilities. The school has also set up a "spiritual oasis" relaxation space to protect students' mental health.
Whole-person learning to develop talents, the first step to inspire potential
In order to help primary one freshmen adapt to campus life smoothly, the school has specially designed a "primary one multi-curriculum" that covers Chinese and English mathematics, science, reading, dance, music, physical education and visual arts. Through small class teaching, diverse experiential activities and professional guidance, students’ potential is inspired and their interest in learning is cultivated. The school also provides a wealth of exhibition and off-campus exchange opportunities, allowing students to broaden their horizons, build self-confidence, and embark on a wonderful primary school learning journey.
